Voice Heraldry

This page is a directory of articles that should be useful to heralds who do courtstournaments, or camp cries.

You may also be interested in the sign language used by silent heralds, or in protocol topics such as how to manage courts or the List of Alternate Titles.

Vocal Techniques

Court Heraldry

Court Heralds are the formal voice of the royalty and landed nobility. They call people into court, announce the leaders’ edicts and whims, and read official documents to the audience.

Tournament or List Heraldry

Tournament Heralds (also called List Heralds) act as masters of ceremonies for martial competitions. They summon the contestants of each bout, announce them to the audience, and proclaim the winners.

Event Heraldry and Camp Cries

Event Heralds broadcast information at an event by circulating throughout the site and loudly reciting announcements, sometimes called “crying the camp”.
